Profile
Sayali Mundye is a curator, cultural manager who loves to take photographs and make things. Over the last eight years, she has worked with public and private museums, and art organisations including Sir JJ School of Art, lndian Art and Design Educators Association and others. She has led large-scale art projects, curated exhibitions, developed public programmes and led partnerships.
Sayali has been a fellow of Museum Curation programme by the Centre for Art & Archaeology of the AIIS, Kress Foundation for Art Curators Conference, Cultural Management by Goethe amongst others. Her research interests include investigating intersections between art, public, cultural organisations and society. Sayali is working on a case study for Goethe and ACRI that surveys Indian museums and ways that they can incorporate contemporary art into their galleries.
Sayali is based in Bombay, is currently an independent curator, teaches at university as a visiting faculty and writes for publications.

OUTREACH AND PROGRAMMING, PIRAMAL MUSEUM OF ART

Over 4.5 years at this private museum, I developed over 80 public outreach programmes for 10 exhibitions and managed three museum locations. Location mapping and research audiences to strategise and develop the programming plans. Set up the internship and docent programme.
Writing artist notes for the Piramal Art Residency, drafting museum newsletters. Curated exhibitions have been listed under the exhibition section.
Leading special projects which involved project curation, planning, budgeting, crisis management, documentation, training, hiring, monitoring and reporting. This included working with different stakeholders like business heads, programme directors, artistic directors, volunteers, archivists, managing external vendors and internal teams to ensure successful project completion. Projects include: The Public Art Programme, Byculla Wall Project and Spotlighters.
Planning strategic partnerships for the Museum in line with the Museum’s vision and mission. Building and maintaining relationships with cultural institutions like Alliance Française de Bombay, Columbia Global Centre, the Raza Foundation, MARG Foundation, Art21, RainbowFish Trust and more. Developing partnerships that strengthen learning and development for art students with organisations like Sir. JJ School of Art, Rachana Sansad School of Architecture and Columbia University Global Centre.
